IRATA Rope Access Course

Australian Industrial Rope Access offers the only internationally recognised ticket available within Australia in both our Sydney and Brisbane training centres. The IRATA Training and Certification Scheme' along with an AIRA training course insures that the association consistently turns out technicians with the appropriate rope access skills and knowledge of relevant industry standards.

It is the delegate’s responsibility to ensure compliance with current regulations and we therefore recommend you refer to the TACS Edition 3.1 document.  

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations made in writing with over 14 calendar days’ notice will be charged at $550 or can be transferred to another available course at no cost. This transfer offer is available one time only. Any additional transfers will be charged at $330.

Cancellations made in writing less than 14 calendar days’ prior to course commencement are non-refundable but can be transferred to another course date at a cost of $330.

Cancellations made in writing less than 7 days’ prior to course commencement are non-refundable or transferable.

Course Transfers

Course transfers can be made only with over 7 days’ notice and are subject to availability. Transfers can only be made to courses which have been announced on our website.

Additional Training

AIRA strive to support trainees who require additional training therefore candidates who require further training or fail to attain a pass grade are permitted to apply for further training along with re-assessment on the next available course date without any extra charge. This offer is available once only and is at the discretion of the AIRA trainer - further failure to obtain a pass grade will incur additional costs.

Log Books

It is the responsibility of the current technicians to have logbooks up-to-date and available before being allowed for L2 or L3 assessment. If technicians turn up on assessment day without the required verified hours, the assessor may refuse to assess that candidate.

Complaints and Appeals

In case of a complaint or dispute, an aggrieved party may first get in contact with AIRA management to see if the issue can be resolved. if the aggrieved party is still not happy with the outcome they may write to the Complaints officer at the IRATA International office, giving details of his/her complaint. Full details of the appeals and complaints procedure may be obtained from the IRATA International office.

Our highly experienced trainers are all IRATA Level 3I and have held this L3 operator standard for a minimum of six years along with holding the highly respected Australian Cert 1V in Training & Assessment qualification. Our trainers are not only operators but also company directors and still spend time in the field.

Our state of the art purposely thought out and equipped training venue allows us to carry out training manoeuvres and rigging from the simplest techniques to the most complex systems using the most up to date methods and equipment available. Our use of computer, practical and video demonstrations, hand-outs, large library of information on equipment, strengths, weaknesses, reports etc., Australian standards and IRATA documentation along with an AIRA training resource cd and comprehensive training/field manual [as an additional and ongoing teaching aid] ensures that our trainees are the best-prepared technicians ready to go out into the industry.

Level 1
This course is designed to take candidates with no previous experience through all the training and examination requirements to be a qualified IRATA Level 1 Technician over a period of 5 days. Level 1 candidates will learn all the fundamentals for their continuing rope access career. 

Level 2
This course is designed to take candidates with sufficient IRATA L1 industrial rope access experience through all the training and examination requirements to be a qualified IRATA Level 2 Technician over a period of 5 days.

Trainees will learn about hauling/mechanical advantage systems, rescues, vertical aid climbing, AS/NZS 1891, AS/NZS 4488 1 & 2, and further your site rigging skills. 

Level 3
This course is designed to take candidates with sufficient Irata L2 industrial rope access experience through all the training and examination requirements to be a qualified IRATA Level 3 Safety Supervisor over a period of 5 days.

Note: It is an IRATA requirement that before being allowed to work in the field as a L3, you must hold a valid first aid certificate.

We will challenge you during your level 3 course. Many of the techniques you have been shown to date by other training suppliers involve a great deal of equipment and exertion. We will teach you how to accomplish the same using less equipment, less energy and less time. AIRA trainers will also prepare you in SWMS preparation, Work Health & Safety 2011 legislation and some advanced rigging techniques. After an AIRA course based on IRATA requirements you will be in front of your competitors for that much sought after supervisor’s role.
